Well this chapter in my life is coming to a close. I have finished all of the Harry Potter novels, did the trivia, and am finishing up my writing. I have yet to watch the last movie though so that too is on my list. I want everything to be done and presented by next week. This is really exciting! I worked really hard and my brain almost exploded because Harry Potter was running through it all the time. Watching the last movie I cried. I remember crying when Dobby died in the novel, watching it was even worst. Ahh, brings tears to my eyes right now. I do regret watching the movies before reading the books, that's one thing I will be explaining deeply in my essay. Books should always be read before presented in the cinemas, there's just so much you'll miss, and I really do understand that now. The trivia was very exciting, everyone seemed to have a fun time. I got compliments after the game, and many people who could not attend, teachers and students, came up to me showing how deeply they regretted having to miss the session. Maybe I can hold another trivia? It was a great time and I'm sure people will come again, maybe even more!

Harry Potter Challenge Blog #7
I finally finished the 5th book. I'm actually really depressed, Sirius died and that was really the only family Harry had left. His life is such a tragedy, he's so young and everything that is surrounding him just seems to die, or always end up hurt. There was a revelation though in the last chapter that Neville and Harry were in the running for being the chosen victim of Lord Voldemort. That may sound weird but there was a prophecy that a child born in late July and to parents who have wronged Voldemort three times, which seems really biblical to me, will be the one to either kill Voldemort, or get killed themselves. So Voldemort, this crazy insane leader of wanting to rid the world of half-bloods and non magical people, went after Harry instead of Neville. I find Voldemort to be extremely similar to Hitler. Seeing as Hitler was preaching about cleansing the world and turning it into an aryan race when he was far from aryan himself, and Voldemort basically doing the same thing as hitler because he's contradicting his own beliefs seeing as he's a half-blood too. Quite a huge contradiction, mindless and insane people following a leader who can't even stay true to the very thing he is fighting for. Well back to Neville and Harry. Neville is pure-blood, Harry is half-blood. Voldemort, being one of the most powerful wizards on earth went after Harry. Why do you ask? Because Voldemort, understanding his own roots, saw himself in Harry. He could have gone after Neville and Harry would have not been the chosen one, he would be living a normal wizarding life with his parents still alive, but Voldemort did not want to underestimate the very thing that was perceived as weak in the first place. It's sad how much blood, dna, the very thing that make you, you, the thing that you have no control over, can bring so much hate and suffrage to those just because they make you different. And that is why Harry was made the chosen one on that late night at the end of July in the year 1980. Harry Potter's life changed because he was different, because he was not pure, and because he would never be perfect for society, he was destined to suffer.

Harry Potter Challenge Blog #7
I've been working on this project for almost a month now. I've been asked if I regretted starting my senior project. I still say no. Yes, I have had some setbacks. School can really be a drag, and getting sick can be even worst, but I'm still really pumped about reading this series. There is so much to learn from a writer, and I am picking up subtle things from J.K. herself. One thing that I have noticed is that she is really literal, in a way it is endearing, in another, really hurtful. I'm not sure any of you have noticed, but Dobby and all the other house elves remind me of slaves.
Well it is a no brainer that they are, but the way they talk, their dialect is very Afro-centered. Reading The Help, and just growing up in the African American culture really makes it easier for me to pick up on these things. It's broken english, that was what Rowling was going for, and its the same exact english my ancestors spoke while working in the cotton fields long ago. I was a little shocked when I picked up on it. Actually I was very shocked, and it made me angry because all the house elves are genetically programed to like cleaning up and being told what to do by their "masters" and "mistresses".
The other thing that through me off is how Dobby, the free elf, was basically called a genetic freak because he did not want to clean up after his "family" anymore, he did not want to take orders anymore, he just wanted to be free. The lack of want for independence is scary, and it's nice that Hermione and Dumbledore are fighting for their freedom, and their rights. But what good is any of that going to do if J.K. turned all the house elves into programed slaves? Ugh, it's just frustrating, that is all.

I do find this====> http://www.cracked.com/article_17510_5-ways-people-are-taking-harry-potter-waaay-too-seriously.html to be pretty hilarious. Honestly I agree, this series is just a book. I understand things can change a person dramatically but people need to understand that we are living in a world where actual magic displayed in the Harry Potter series just does not exist. The one thing that made me want to read the Harry Potter books was because I knew that once I got to college there would be a quidditch team. If you don't understand what quidditch is...well I'm sorry but you're just going to have to read the books. I wanted to be in the know with all of my homies. I wanted to be a freak like the rest of the HP fan base. I wanted to understand all of the HP secrets too. BUT! I really just want to shake people and scream in there face that HP, is a book. It's a book, and it's never going to be real. I'm not a dream crusher, but for this franchise I will be. Seriously though, 1000 years from now, people are going to dig this stuff up and think that we were the most insane generation ever created. Thanks J.K, I always wanted people to remember me as a crazy obsessed Harry Potter fan/ lunatic.

Draco Malfoy, the character everyone hates the most, but I think there is more to. I've been reading a lot...obviously, and I've come to hate Draco like a lot of other people. However,I feel sorry for him. For some reason I feel a great deal of pain for Draco. It's not his fault he's such an ignorant little prick, his parents made him into who he is and I think that counts for something. Honestly, people can say an person is their own individual all they want, but a parent can scar and leave a huge imprint on their children. The good, the bad, and the ugly can really shine through a persons child. Parents are all about manipulation, Lucius Malfoy is the biggest manipulator ever. I haven't read all the books, truthfully I haven't read at all this week, but I find time to think about Malfoy I just want to hug him, he might kill me, but if someone stood by him and showed him what love truly was, that it's not money, but something that resides deep inside the soul, he might not turn out as bad as everyone makes him out to be. Shout out to J.K. Rowling for toying with my feels for this one.
I mean...I never said he was perfect... just messed up, yah know?

Harry Potter Challenge Blog #4
I haven't read anything since Sunday. I haven't been feeling very well, and my concentration is all over the place, but there is something I would like to share with you all so here it is. I remember yesterday I was asked who my favorite character was. I think I said Ron...I'm not sure. A bit of a head cold here. However, I now know that that was a lie. My favorite character in the novel is the one and only Neville Longbottom. Why do you ask? Because Neville Longbottom is just simply human. Yes he is a goofball, but there is a lot more to him than just his mess ups. There is nothing extraordinary about Neville, unlike Harry who always gets the girl and wins the fight, or Ron who is just known for being the greatest best friend in the world. Even Hermione ,who just might be smarter than Einstein. Neville messes up all the time, and he appreciates the little things in life because he knows that those are what counts the most. He cherishes his friends, and shows great strength when nobody ever expects him too. He is simply human, yet so much more powerful than that. He is a wizard, and a great one at that. So cheers to Neville! For being my hero and having the biggest heart. Sorry Harry, I know J.K. Rowling intended for you to be everyones favorite, but in the end, you just didn't cut it in my book.

Wow, I think I missed something. I think I forgot to blog on one of these days...I'm so bad at this. I just get caught up in the book and the WAM! I forget to blog about J.K.Rowling and all her perfection. I really enjoy how every chapter ends with you wanting more. There is always something building, and that is something that I thoroughly enjoy with everything Rowling does in her novels. Yes there is always a problem in her books, but she keeps you at the peak of the problem for so long before she even lets you stop holding your breath. well off to reading some more! Ta-ta!

Harry Potter Challenge Blog #2
So...this weeks reading has gone by exceptionally slow. The fifth book is so long, so I understand why J.K. Rowling is really taking her time to get to the dramatic die hard scene in the novel, she has to keep her fans on edge. I particularly just want to plow my way through the book, but I want to understand what is going on right now. You know, I never knew a villain that wore pink before this novel came out. Professor Umbridge is an evil little lady in pink. I always hated that color, she makes me hate it even more. Don't give up Harry! Evil never wins!
Spell of the day: Silencio
A spell to cause something (or someone) to become silent. As Hermoine instructs Ron, this spell is done with a sharp jab of the wand, not a wave.

So today I have struggled with reading. There is just so much to be done and I have yet to read ten more chapters in the fifth book. In a weeks time I have completed four of the Harry Potter novels. Yes, you can say I am addicted. J.K. Rowling is a very talented writer if I must say so myself. I do get annoyed with all the description at times, but they do come in handy when I try to picture the next weapon that sets out to kill Harry and his friends. Well, off to reading again!
